Message from the Mayor
We have one of the finest downtown shopping districts on Long Island. In addition to the fine mix of retail stores, there are fine restaurants, banking facilities, professional offices to serve people from all walks of life. Patchogue is proud of its Chamber of Commerce that is very active and productive for the community's benefit. The three major service clubs - Kiwanis, Lions and Rotary are very supportive to community needs and meet in local restaurants. Other community organizations such as fraternal, military veterans, charitable, etc. are a vital part of the community.
The Patchogue Theatre is a 1200 seat theatre built in 1921 as a vaudeville house and in 2000 was renovated back to its original glory and is one of the finest performing arts centers on the East Coast. The Theatre is a hallmark of our community and serves as a destination point for many folks all over Long Island.
We are very proud of our shorefront and riverfront that present much activity. The Patchogue River is one of the largest and finest on Long Island and accommodates numerous private yachts and small craft as well as commercial vessels. There are many fine restaurants and marinas that service the entire region. The Fire Island National Sea Shore is headquartered in our Village where ferry services are provided to Watch Hill on Fire Island. Ferry service is also provided to Davis Park on Fire Island.
Patchogue Village has a very extensive recreation program that includes a municipal pool, athletic fields, tennis courts and a large park on our shore front that is available to people of all ages. Boys and girls participate in the baseball, basketball and volleyball leagues as well as summer fun programs and swimming lessons. We also provide adult leagues in softball and volleyball. Our senior programs are outstanding, with craft programs and trips to NYC available to all seniors.
Churches of most denominations and Synagogues are long established in the community. Schools, libraries, medical services are available throughout the community. Two colleges make Patchogue their home - St. Joseph's College and Briarcliff College. Brookhaven Memorial Hospital has a strong presence with a facility that houses dialysis treatment, home care, hospice care and administrative functions located in the Village and the hospital is located east of the village
Patchogue is a transportation hub with the Long Island Railroad, Suffolk County Bus Service, Ferry Service to Fire Island, connections to all major highways and a major regional airport just minutes away at McArthur Airport; all with easy access to our downtown. The village has its own bus to transport citizens to and from parts of the community.
The Suffolk County Police Department 5th Precinct is located on Waverly Avenue and E 2nd Street. The village has a Public Safety Department that provides additional security to the community. The Patchogue Fire Department has served the community for over 125 years and is located in our downtown.
The Village of Patchogue has long been the anchor on the South Shore of Long Island and has been a place "We are Proud to Call Home". Should you wish to contact myself or any member of the Board of Trustees, their e-mail addresses are located on the Elected Officials page of this website.
